Minimalism Life

As humans, we love making a list of pros and cons for anything and everything. This is true particularly when we adopt a new way of doing things. For all pros, there are (or should be) some cons. That allows us to make decisions easier, validate our opinions, promote our image versus others and receive validation, gain praise and recognition. Or so we think.

Here is a short list of pros and cons I prepared based on my own journey of minimalism. While some changes were immediate, others took longer, and many are part of a journey that never ends but only become more fulfilling as I go.

PROS:

Better sense of judgment and critical assessment
Decluttered environment
Mindful consumption
Reduced visual noise
Choosing quality over quantity
Mindfulness about long term impact of decisions
Sense of calm and order
Reduced stress and anxiety, improved health
Focus on experiences and what truly matters
Lasting joy and fulfillment
Selectivity about the information and media
Simplicity, clarity and intentionality
Heightened self-awareness
Improved relationship with one-self and authenticity
Mindful approach to time and energy
Prioritized core values and passions
Living with purpose
A sustainable mood of contentment and gratitude regardless of external circumstances
Rediscovered beauty of life

CONS:

“The information you’re looking for is not available at this time and never will be. Please hang up, take a deep breath and have a good look at yourself in the mirror, smile, and re-read the pros. You may then proceed.”
